    The mirror did nothing, the colours look wrong, the load found no meshes, the window will not open.

    What it does to your scene, what happens to a landmark pass downstream, and what it deliberately does not do.

    FAQ

Read the status bar first

Almost every question this tool can answer, it already answered at the bottom of the window. The status line says how many faces were assigned, how many landmarks were converted, what the mirror matched, and why a load fell back to a different method. Failures stay on screen in red rather than fading.

The full traceback for a failure goes to Maya's script editor.

Check what is selected

The read-out on the right of the toolbar — 342 faces selected, 1 object selected, nothing selected — follows Maya's selection live. A surprising number of "it did nothing" moments are a selection that was lost to a click in the wrong place.

Reach for the audit

Utilities → Audit answers what is actually on this model right now, which is a better starting point than any guess. Select Unassigned then puts the gap in your hands.

Ask the scene directly

Landmarks are ordinary Maya shaders, so nothing about them is hidden:

from Am_landmark.core import shaders

for name in shaders.landmark_shaders():
    info = shaders.landmark_info(name)
    print(name, info["type"], info["color"], info["faces"], info["meshes"])
