FAQ¶
Is it really free?¶
Yes. AM Rig Menu is MIT licensed: use it on paid work, change it, pass it on — keep the notice, and expect no warranty. There is no paid tier and nothing to activate.
Which versions of Maya does it run on?¶
Maya 2020 and later, on Windows, macOS and Linux, with whichever Qt your Maya ships (PySide2 or PySide6). It is developed and tested on Maya 2024 to 2026.
Does it only work with AM_Rig?¶
No. On any rig you get Reset, Toggle Display, X-Ray, Isolate and the whole Space submenu — building spaces included. AM_Rig controls add IK/FK switching, mirror and flip, selecting the rig's controls, and the Settings items. A rig of your own can unlock those too — see Making a rig work with it.
Does it work on referenced rigs?¶
Yes. Every command works on referenced controls. The one exception to "nothing changes outside your scene" is Add Space Group on a referenced control: a group cannot be parented inside a reference, so it is added in the rig's own file and the reference is reloaded.
Can I use it with a different mouse button?¶
The menu opens on the left button while the hotkey is held — the button a marking menu is usually on. The key is yours to choose.
Where did the AM Tools menu in Maya's menu bar go?¶
Versions up to 0.2.3 added one. From 0.3.0 AM Rig Menu lives on its shelf button, like every other AM tool, and the menu bar is left alone.
Does it slow Maya down?¶
No. The menu is built only when you open it, and the update check runs in the background once a day. The one thing that runs all the time is the Channel Box colouring, which reacts to selection changes and reads only the attribute names of what you selected.
How do I uninstall it?¶
Drag the installer into Maya and press Uninstall — see Uninstalling. Your other AM tools are untouched.
How do I report a bug or ask for something?¶
Contact Us on the shelf button opens the contact page. Say which Maya version you are on, and paste what the Script Editor printed.
